Text with 1 note

Albert Murray has said that rock music “obviously has more to do with the intensification of a mood of despair,” than with making people feel good.  This often might be the case, but I think the end result is not just to make oneself feel worse.  When Iggy sings about having nothing to do, it’s not to make himself feel worse about his boredom, but to make it go away, and to draw attention to the problem, in the hope that change comes about.  It’s not the mood of despair that’s intensified, but its visibility.
