Latin Soul y Bugalú

I saw Spanglish Fly and Bio Ritmo several weeks ago at Zebulon, and they both lit the place up. I picked up this EP from Spanglish Fly while I was there, and then it got lost in a stack of other books, CD’s, records, and assorted media I’ve still got to get through, but today, I went through the stack, saw it, and wondered how I could have forgotten to give it a spin? Idiocy.
Four crazily funky tracks on this disc, and though I enjoy them all, “Let My People Bugalú” completely blows the others out of the water. The bassline sets the groove, the percussion practically steamrolls in, and then everything blasts. Pretty soon, it all drops out though, save for the bassline, resetting the groove again and again. Check it out above.
Apologies, by the way, for doing nothing with this blog for forever, but my energies have been depleted by less interesting, but more financially lucrative activities.
