For Your Own Special Sweetheart (De Soto)
Jawbox’s super amazing math-rock masterpiece For Your Own Special Sweetheart got reissued a couple weeks ago by De Soto records. Since then, I’ve been spinning it pretty much non-stop. It’s fantastic.
Many of you are probably already familiar with this group, so I won’t spend too much time explaining the sound; it’s math-rock at its finest, and it makes me wish I was doing college radio fifteen years ago, when it came out.
For those unfamiliar, get this now. Start with track two, “Savory,” which you can find at the top of this page, and then just run through the whole record, front to back. If, after hearing this record, you think of anything other than Jawbox when you hear the word “rock,” you’re an idiot.
