Saudade - Incalescence
Lookouts’ Journal (Arena Rock)

Dark chords, droning reverb, and song titles involving dragons, ghosts, and immolation are just a few of the things you’ll find in Lookouts’ Journal, the new record from Saudade (which is pronounced, apparently, “So-Dodgy”).  Hailing from Portland, Oregon, the duo’s recorded an album of ambient noise that could work both as the soundtrack to an acid trip, or a night of Dungeons and Dragons … that happens during an acid trip.

The track found above, “Incalescence,” occurs right before, and builds into “Immolation.”  As the name would have you believe, it sounds like the collection of energy, before the cleansing fire begins to crackle.  I don’t know what that means, but it’s pretty great.
