Angelo Spencer Et Les Hauts Sommets (K)

From what I understand, Angelo Spencer is a guitarist who spends much of his time making surf-rock with some experimental and ethnic influences. Angelo Spencer Et Les Hauts Sommets employs elements similar to those found in Arrington De Dionyso’s latest record, Malaikat dan Singa, which makes sense, since Dionyso was a musician on this album. I think my favorite tracks are those which feature that influence most prominently, like “Did You Hear the Sound Of…” and “Le Mont Pourri.” The album seems to be at its best when it’s at its noisiest. There are times when it’s focusing more on surf-rock, and those seem to be the less interesting parts. But when the focus is on noise, like the previously mentioned cuts, or “Shivers,” a particularly fuzzy guitar track, then things get a lot more fun.
I have to say that I’m not sure if I like Angelo Spencer or just really like Malaikat dan Singa. But either way, I’m interested to hear more.
P.S. Angelo Summers and High Summits.
