Fusioon - Farsa Del Buen Vivir
Absolute Belter (B-Music)

The latest compilation from B-Music, collecting “mid-Med-mod-rock and Spanish psychspoitation from the ‘cradle of Spanish pop.’”  If you remember The BYG Deal from a few months back, a sampling of some deep psychedelic, avant-jazz, and freak-folk music from the French BYG record label, then you’re already on board with Absolute Belter, which does the same thing with Spain’s Belter Records, “one of Europe’s longest-running independent record labels.”

There are some nasty versions of classic psychedelic and garage classics; Los Roller’s re-working of Cream’s re-working of Robert Johnson’s “Crossroad Blues” (listed here as “Camino Cortado”) features some nasty guitar work, and Los Huracanes’ remake of “Good Golly Miss Molly” (or is it “Good Gally Miss Molly?”) drives hard and utilizes some amazing keyboard tone.

The real standout tracks (in a record made up only of standout tracks) are Control’s “Por Las Viejas Calles,” a synthed-out “stoner-funk” rendition of Curved Air’s “Back Street Luv,” and Fusioon’s “Farsa Del Buen Vivir.”  Described in the liner-notes as “Belter’s most well-preserved freak-rock guartet,” Fusioon makes three appearances on this record, and they’re all great, but the weirdness of this cut in particularly is especially interesting.
