[Flash 10 is required to watch video]The Mummies are the greatest band ever to have existed. No question.

Modern recording is no longer a record of an event but a synthetic construct for sale as solely a commodity. This devalues music and turns it into a hideous kind of audio wall paper.

Since the last time I checked, a lot more Billy Childish has made its way onto YouTube. Needless to say, I’m excited about this. The above’s a nasty performance of perhaps my favorite Headcoats tune, “Troubled Times.” Check these out as well:
Thee Might Caesars cover The Damned’s “Neat Neat Neat”
Thee Milkshakes doing “Red Monkey”
Shit, this guy really needs to make it back over to the States soon…

Will Billy Childish ever stop being awesome? No.
Here he is with the Buff Medways. Gnarly. And don’t forget to check out the sick bass fills.

We’re not pursuing any kind of music, we just like sound.
Found this video tonight of a Billy Childish interview / Thee Headcoats performance. I was expecting nothing really, and the audio’s not great, but it’s actually quite densely packed with information. Childish explains in just a few minutes so many key points in the philosophy of underground rock… the man’s a genius.
I’ve spent the past several months really getting my ass kicked by how great Childish’s stuff is, so hearing him talk about living on social security was sort of an eye-opener, but it makes sense; the best art never comes from extravagance (fuck you, Wagner).
I don’t want to be a professional… Hopefully we can carry on for a long time without turning into a bunch of charlatans.
By the way, my favorite comment from this video:
You Fucker! You rock, my brother!
I was at both the Jabberjaw show and the reading/art/gig at LACE. I still have the flyer I peeled off the wall!
Just the fact, that you remember Jabberjaw says everything!
Carry on!

Stumbled across this video yesterday. The Twilight Zone and Billy Childish work pretty well together, it seems.
